On an amazing night, our Lowell Lady Red Devils beat Andrean High School 5 to 1 at the Inferno, for Cancer Night. The soccer field was turned into a pile of pink, celebrating the warriors who have persevered through their hard time and beat cancer. They decked out the field in bright colors, and dressed to impress: pink from head to toe.
The highlight from this night was recognizing our soccer coaches, previous and present, for their courageous battle they faced. Previous head coach Jessica Hayden and current head coach Danny Nestorovski were honored for their strength and resilience, and both expressed deep appreciation for the amazing support they received. Players, officials, and supporters all showed their love to these coaches with applause, going as far as giving standing ovations, showing their support.
As much as this was a game to win, it goes much further than that. It was a game of honor to the people affected by this life changing disease. This event helped bring our community together, and let people in the stands be more aware of how this affects not only the people affected, but their families and friends. This night raised the team’s confidence, and was truly a night that the Lady Red Devils will remember forever.
