The girls’ wrestling team has been preparing for their upcoming winter season. For the past month, the girls have been training and conditioning to become better athletes. All of the wrestlers have set great goals they want to accomplish this year, such as making the varsity lineup, winning more matches, and improving both physically and mentally. Wrestler Marguerite Perez states, “My biggest goal for this upcoming season is to tech somebody during a match.” The girls are looking forward to what the season has in store for them.
The girls’ wrestling team represents new opportunities for growth, empowerment, and bonding. The team participates in many bonding activities, such as going out for team meals and celebrating holidays with events like Secret Santa. Their goal this year is to push each other in the best way possible—not only to grow as wrestlers, but also as leaders. The girls want to continue building each other up and supporting one another. With determination and hard work, they are willing to go the extra mile to reach their goals.
More opportunities have been created for the girls this season as well. One exciting addition is that Lowell High School will host its first-ever Girls Wrestling Superduals this December. The entire team is looking forward to this event and the chance to compete on their home mat.
This year, the team hopes to send more wrestlers to qualify for regionals and state. Beyond the wins, the girls know that their greatest accomplishment will be the legacy they build together. No matter how the season ends, they hope to inspire younger athletes at the school to join the wrestling team—proving that girls can excel in this demanding sport. This season, the team is ready to take on new challenges with confidence and determination.
