This fall season, our Red Devil Marching Band and Guard performed El Matador y La Rosa. They had a successful show, earning gold ratings at both Hanover and Kankakee Valley. They also received awards for Percussion Achievement, Music Achievement, and Visual Achievement.
Senior drum major Will Thompson said, “I think we did really well overall. We earned a gold, and the group played with a lot of energy and confidence. Even with a few small hiccups at the start, we pulled it together quickly and delivered a strong performance that we can all be proud of.”
Sophomore guard captain Kira Kirk added, “We did well enough to get a gold. We were all on time, and everyone had a smile on their face.” The Color Guard earned the Auxiliary Award along with their gold rating.
The hard work the band and guard have put in throughout the year has brought them great success. The Marching Band’s next competition will be at ISSMA. It is expected that they will have even more accomplishments to celebrate afterward—and new goals to work toward.
