Alexia Utley is a third-year wrestler who began wrestling when she was just a sophomore. She is now a senior at Lowell Senior High School and is happily graduating as a successful wrestler.
On January 10, 2026, Alexia advanced from regionals and moved on to state. The day before state, wrestling coach Michelle English prepared a relaxing day at school for Alexia in preparation for her travels. During first period, Coach English gathered the wrestling girls for a quiet breakfast in the office. The girls ate donuts and drank orange juice as they gathered around the table to show their full support for Alexia, exchanging words of affirmation. At one point, everyone went around the table and shared one thing they loved about their teammate, Alexia. When the breakfast was over, everyone went on with their days as usual.
At 3:00 p.m., the girls gathered once again in Coach Michelle’s office to prepare their handmade posters. While Alexia was downstairs weighing herself and waiting for the bus to arrive, the rest of the team finished getting ready. At about 3:15 p.m., all of the wrestling girls and boys, along with Lowell’s principals, gathered by the bus doors in preparation for Alexia’s departure. Everyone held up their posters and clapped for Alexia as she walked through.
As she departed on her one hour and forty-minute bus ride, Alexia was supported by her two coaches, Andreas and Michelle. When she finally arrived at her hotel room, Alexia was surprised with many gifts from her coaches and family, including her favorite snacks and a card signed by the entire wrestling team.
Although Alexia may not have placed in the end, we are all extremely proud of her and how far she has come. She will be truly missed by Lowell High School.
