Between February 13-15, the 2026 All-Star Weekend took place in Los Angeles. This came with a showing of rising stars, skill events, and the top players of the league. In this year’s event, the NBA shifted from the original East vs. West. Instead it became a three-team tournament between the USA Stars, the USA Stripes, and Team World. This new structure brought four 12-minute games, and it included a championship game.
The first championship team of this new format was the USA Stars. The first win ended with a close 37-35 win over Team World. With this win, they proceeded to the championship round. In the championship they beat the USA Stripes 47-21. Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards led the way with 30 points. This let him earn the Kobe Bryant All-Star MVP Trophy.
Friday night showed us the Rising Stars Game, where the young players take the stage. Rookie VJ Edgecombe showed an impressive performance during the night. This earned him the Rising Stars MVP honors, adding his name to the list of players to watch.
Saturday brought us the final events. Veteran point guard Damian Lillard won the 3-Point Contest. This would mark his third career title. The Shooting Star Challenge went to Team Knicks. Finally, the Dunk Contest was won by Keshad Johnson from the Miami Heat. He won due to showing the crowd high energy finishes.
In the end, the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend featured new ideas, that showed the fans a fresh look at the event.
