With test day quickly approaching, juniors are turning their focus to one of the most important exams of the year, the SAT. Juniors across the school are preparing to take the SATs on March 4. The exam includes sections in reading and math to help challenge students on the skills they have developed throughout high school.
Some students have taken time out of their day to complete practice exams and use online study tools to prepare for the big day. Teachers and counselors have encouraged students to prepare by studying and managing their time leading up to test day. Being prepared for the SATs is almost as important as the actual test, and not just academically. You need to practice good time management, get a good night’s sleep, and eat a filling breakfast. Studies have shown that sleeping and eating breakfast before SATs can improve cognitive function, memory recall, and focus.
If you are a junior about to take the SATs, just remember, you have prepared for this moment, and now it is time you trust yourself. Take it one question at a time, stay calm, and remember the years of hard work you have put into doing well in this moment. Walk in with confidence, breathe through the tough moments, and walk away proud knowing you gave it your best.
The SAT matters because it shows the readiness you have for college, which helps you stand out in scholarships and admissions. Not all, but many universities require SATs to be considered. Even if you are not going to college, it can help strengthen your applications for jobs, etc. Good luck, juniors!
