This sophomore was nominated by Spanish teacher Mrs. Carranza. While Kira is a pleasure to have in all of her classes, earning good grades and building positive relationships with her peers, she is also highly involved at Lowell Senior High School. She participates in choir, jazz band, marching band, and winter percussion, and she also served as the color guard section leader while helping with school concessions. She has many friends and is kind to everyone around her.
Kira says, “Getting picked as Student of the Month makes me feel like my hard work is truly being recognized. It makes a lot of sense to me that I was nominated by Mrs. Carranza because I put a lot of effort into her class. Learning a new language actually comes pretty easily to me, and I don’t find it embarrassing if I make mistakes out loud since it’s a language I’m still unfamiliar with. I always put myself out there when answering questions in class, and it helps me get the support I need to improve. I really appreciate and value Mrs. Carranza as both a teacher and an adult I can always talk to, and I’m very grateful that she recognizes how hard I work.”
Kira consistently speaks up in class to better learn and understand the new language she is studying.
