Congratulations to Cecilia Barrera! Cecilia has earned the title of “Student of the Month” for February. This is a way to recognize her great effort and hard work.
I asked Cecilia a few questions. To start, I asked, “What is your favorite part about being a student?” She replied, “My favorite part of being a student is probably being able to come to a few of my favorite classes and learn about things I’m genuinely passionate about.” I agree. I love being able to learn more and more every day, and she really captured what it means to be a student.
Next, I asked her, “What are your goals for the future, and how are you working toward them?” She answered, “My goals for the future include studying digital marketing and photography and traveling around the globe as much as possible. I want to be around art all the time, whether it’s music, culture, creating, or sharing experiences with people who have the same interests as me. I’m working toward these goals right now by being part of the marketing for the Red Devils Bistro. In my spare time, I’m probably buying expensive cameras off eBay to take pictures of everything. I also play the guitar and piano and love to dress up and wear cool outfits. Fashion, photography, and music are probably my three favorite things.” Honestly, I love all of this for Cecilia, and I hope she gets to do all of this and more!
Then I asked, “Who inspires you the most?” Her answer was, “Someone who really inspires me is probably my mom. She shows me perseverance every day. She made a career change at 40 years old and graduated from nursing school after being a social worker for ten years. It made me realize it’s never too late to start over. She shaped me into the woman I am today. I can’t thank her enough for doing everything for me and my three other siblings.” Her mom sounds incredible and like a very strong woman.
Lastly, I asked, “What is your favorite school subject?” Her answer was, “My small business operations class with Mrs. Hinchy is by far my favorite subject. She truly is the best teacher and cares about us kids very much. I’ve never had another class like that. All the kids I work closely with in the Bistro are a great group, and we work hard but also have a lot of fun together. I genuinely love creating the funny reels and running the marketing for the new drinks. Anytime I’m creating is when I’m at my best.” This class has always seemed fun, and I have heard many good things about it. I’m glad Cecilia can be part of this, and it seems like the perfect fit for her.
Congratulations to Cecilia Barrera on being named Student of the Month, and keep doing you and working hard!
