Megan Moroney, the 2024 CMA’s New Artist of the Year winner, just released her third studio album, “Cloud 9,” on Friday, February 20th. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Top Album Sales, and Top Country Albums charts, which is Moroney’s first in her career.
The album includes hits like “6 Months Later,” the lead single from the album, which debuted at No. 29 on the Billboard all-genres music chart. “Wish I Didn’t” also appeared on the Hot 100 at No. 41. The album also includes collaborations with music icons Kasey Musgraves on “Bells & Whistles” and Ed Sheeran on “I Only Miss You.”
The album, as described by Moroney, is “a reflection of her most confident, self-assured, and happiest self.” Megan is adored by her fans as what is called an “emo cowgirl.” She often writes gut-wrenching country songs about heartbreak. While “Cloud 9” is not shy of these heartbreaking tunes, it takes a more optimistic toll, with more happy songs than her first two albums.
On the night of the album release, Moroney started her “9 cities in 9 days” mini-tour. The stops featured $9 tickets for fans, which could not be overpriced by resellers, since they were available at the door only. Moroney will start her official Cloud 9 Tour, a 49-date international run kicking off in Columbus, Ohio, on May 29, 2026.
