The movie Joy Ride is about four best friends who travel through China after a business meeting goes wrong. The story follows Audrey Sullivan, who has always struggled with her identity, as she goes to Beijing for a business deal for the law firm she works for. Audrey brings along her college roommate/best friend, Kat, childhood best friend Lolo, and Lolo’s cousin Deadeye throughout the Chinese countryside in search of Audrey’s birth mom. During their adventure, questionable decisions were made, including being smuggled to South Korea, and the girls ended their trip with their lives and their friendship in pieces.
