Kendyl Fidler, a dedicated sophomore at Lowell Senior High School, has recently achieved a remarkable milestone by qualifying for the state gymnastics competition. This accomplishment is a testament to her hard work, determination, and passion for the sport. Kendyl says, “Making it this far in the postseason feels surreal to me, and to only be a sophomore I never thought I would get this far especially after an injury.”
She also mentions, “I’ve done gymnastics since I was three and competed in club gymnastics competitively for five years up until high school. This gave me a very strong background in gymnastics, and training in high school just made me improve even more, setting me up for this opportunity.”
Kendyl has been involved in gymnastics for several years, consistently demonstrating her skills and commitment during practice sessions. With each routine, she displays not only athletic prowess but also the grace and artistry that characterize this demanding sport. Kendyl states, “I have been doing many extra practices these last few weeks, but I just want to trust my training after working towards this for so long.”
The qualifying event was a nerve-wracking experience for Kendyl, as she faced strong competitors. However, her preparation paid off as she performed confidently, securing her spot for the state meet. The support from her family, friends, and teammates has been crucial in her journey, and Kendyl is excited to represent Lowell at the state level.
She talked about what it means to her, stating, “Being able to experience state is definitely something my younger self would be proud of, and that has always been my encouragement to keep going in this sport. Making it this far is a representation that all my hard work from childhood until now has paid off.”
She hopes to inspire other young gymnasts and continue her growth in the sport she loves.
