The time of year is near to test the knowledge of the curriculum learned through Advanced Placement classes. Students in these classes prepare vigorously for these exams. While the stress of earning a high score can be much at times, here are some things that can be done to ease the nerves.
- Give yourself time! Trying to cram for such a large test in a short period can be very overwhelming. Starting to study earlier, with just small amounts of time dedicated to studying each day, can be a much easier way of reviewing material.
- Study with a purpose! Reading straight out of the textbook could be helpful for some, but applying the information can be much more engaging. Making flashcards, taking mock exams, and analyzing rubrics can help further your understanding.
- Master the MCQ. Multiple-choice questions have the potential to be easier if you know how to play the cards right. Eliminate wrong answer choices, and look for patterns in question wordings. Make sure to master your time management, since there are numerous questions to get through in an allotted amount of time.
- Take care of yourself! Eat a filling breakfast and get a good 8 hours of sleep for the test day. When your brain and body are taken care of, you can act to your fullest potential!
While AP Exams are important, do not let a score define you. As long as you put forth your best effort, you are a winner in your own life!
