Congratulations to Frank Surdyk for winning January Student of the Month. Frank, also known as Frankie, was nominated by Mrs. Camery for his outstanding attitude toward others and his effort in the classroom.
I asked Frankie to share some things about himself. First, Frankie shared that he is a student athlete. He shared with me, “My experience as a student athlete is something I will never forget.” He has had to learn time management. He recalls having to balance studying, practices, and games. It has helped develop Frankie into a dedicated student and teammate, serving as a role model for all.
Frankie also enjoys nature. For him, nature can be calming. It provides a sense of peace. He enjoys listening to the birds singing and watching animals play freely in the woods without a care in the world. For Frankie, nature is a time of self-reflection and quieting of the mind.
One of Frankie’s biggest hobbies is music. Music is built into Frankie. He says, “I’ve been involved since I was young through the melodies that have been played in my home throughout my life.” Frankie comes from a family of musicians. Both his brother and his father create music. Frankie also makes his own music. You can find him on Spotify under the name “Kydrus.” Frankie’s talented voice is one to listen to.
Lastly, Frankie enjoys learning about others and their lives. He keeps an open mind at all times and in all situations. Frankie said that connecting with people helps him understand others and their identities. He wants to help those around him. He said, “Understanding people can make me a better person by knowing what they want in life and how I can hopefully help them get there.”
Frankie is a deserving recipient of the award as Student of the Month. As only a freshman, he has much more time to meet and influence those he crosses paths with. Frankie is an outstanding citizen and student at LHS.
