The Lowell High School Senior Athletic Night recently took place, and it was full of memorable moments. The evening began with a meal and many conversations among athletes, families, and community members. Assistant Athletic Director Keith Kilmer then opened the ceremony by inducting the 2007 Lowell Softball Team into the Hall of Fame, followed by several special awards and scholarships presented to many outstanding athletes who demonstrated excellence both physically and academically.
Looking back on the 2007 softball team, they achieved many great accomplishments, including conference championships, sectional championships, regional championships, and a state finalist appearance. The group of former athletes was selected by the Lowell Hall of Fame Committee because of their tremendous success. Congratulations to this special group of former athletes who truly showed what it means to be a Red Devil.
After the Hall of Fame induction concluded, the student-athletes gathered at the front of the room as the awards ceremony began. The evening started with the presentation of the “Above and Beyond” Award. This honor was given to one student-athlete in each sport during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. The award recognized athletes who showed passion and dedication in their sport while playing a major role on their team through not only their athletic ability, but also their character and leadership.
Many athletes also received new patches for their letterman jackets in recognition of their academic achievements. Additional awards were presented to three-sport athletes and to students who demonstrated both academic and athletic excellence throughout their four years of high school. At the conclusion of the awards ceremony, two athletes received a very special honor. Daniel Frevert and Preslee Hill were recognized as All-Sport Athletes and will have their pictures displayed in the athletic hall alongside many outstanding athletes from years past.
The evening then transitioned into the scholarship presentations, which were provided by the school and members of the community. In total, more than $14,000 in scholarship money was awarded to students to help support their future education. Congratulations to each student who received a scholarship. They should feel incredibly proud of this accomplishment and honored to have been selected.
Thank you to Keith Kilmer, Patti McCormack, Karen Mize, Mike Magley, and the Lowell Booster Club for organizing the event, as well as to The Signature Banquet Hall for hosting such a special evening for all of the outstanding athletes. Congratulations to everyone who was honored, from the Hall of Fame inductees to every senior athlete. Whether you continue pursuing sports in the future or choose another path, you will always be a Red Devil and an athlete who represents what Lowell High School is all about.
