Following fourteen years of dedication to Lowell Senior High School, Mr Mike McLindon will be resigning from his current position at LHS and moving on to Knox High School, where he will become the assistant principal. Since beginning at LHS, he has taught Dual Credit Government, Child and Adolescent Development, Peer Mentoring, and has coached Varsity Softball, as well as Junior Varsity Basketball. When his teaching career started in 2006, he was nothing but dedicated to teaching and helping students throughout his community grow into what they were always meant to be.
As we get closer to the end of the school year, he feels “bittersweet. I’m really excited for the opportunity that’s been presented to me, that’s ahead of me. Obviously I’ve been here for the past fourteen years, and this has been home, so definitely some mixed emotions.” He is very excited to see what Knox has in store for him, and we all are too.
“It’s bittersweet to be leaving LHS. Like I said, I am excited for the opportunity. I think Knox has some great things happening, and it’s something that I am excited to get an opportunity to be a part of. But there are great things happening here as well.” He has spent many years trying to help improve this school and has “invested a lot of my life here, so it is definitely not easy, but I do believe that it is a great opportunity for me”.
He is very excited to start a new chapter of his life at Knox, and is thrilled to see what his new life has to store. He stated that “Yeah, I’m excited! For twenty years, between two schools, my life has been a little chaotic. I have always taught, coached, and sponsored clubs, so twelve to fourteen hour days that I’ve put in for fourteen years, it will be different.” His life will change, but “the opportunity that I have now to spend more time with my wife and children and be around them more as they are getting older and getting more involved with sports and activities, I have missed a lot of their things, so it’s going to be a nice transition for me, both personally and professionally.”
We, as a school, town, and community, will miss Mr. Mike McLindon. But, we are all so very excited to see how his future rolls out, and will always thank him for all of his contributions to Lowell High School. We all wish you the best of luckm
