Let’s swing back to November 7th, 2025. The Lowell Red Devils Varsity Football team had ended a 4 year drought of not reaching a sectional championship. Although the rematch against the Brickies of Hobart ended a chance to the regional championship, a lot was still to unfold.
Specifically, “The General” had a lot of decisions to think over. This would not be new at all to the left-handed Senior Quarterback, Brody Kalwinski. The turn: this wasn’t about football anymore more so, life and beyond.

We take you back to 2023, and the 15th of September, the first of 28 starts in Kalwinski’s career. Since The General got the nod to take over on homecoming night, he has accumulated 2035 yards passing and 2100 yards rushing over his career. It is also hard not to mention 1317 of those passing yards came in his senior season, while also becoming Lowell’s first quarterback to rush and pass for 1000+ yards, all from the southpaw position. His lead in the Red Devils 9-3 record after back-to-back 4-6 seasons has started a chain reaction for the next generation of RDP to follow in the success of Kalwinski’s. After all, ‘win’ is in his name.
Monix, Skamay, Hornickel, Igras, Bank… Kalwinski. With a storied 4A Football program like Lowell, there’s more names that come to mind, but the QB always starts the discussions of those great teams, especially in the last two decades, but to be able to set your name apart from the greats, you have to “hunt” for something more.
“As a freshman, Coach Lacy always told me to look at Riley Bank as an example of a leader. Brody goes on to say: the QB’s are able to throw the ball yes, but their attitude makes the difference. It’s 50 percent skill, but the other 50 comes from who you are. You have to stay calm, know everything better than anyone else, and be willing.”
Fast forward to April 2026, the decision had been set on attending Indiana University, with a focus in Biology. Even with this decsion, to the senior, something was off.
“I just didn’t feel right.” Said Kalwinski. It felt like I was settling for less and taking a less difficult path, and it became intimidating. I wanted to challenge myself.”
With that in mind, two days after committing to the Hoosiers, Brody flipped his commitment to Coach Leonard and the Grizzlies of Franklin, while playing football and running track in the spring.

As of May 26th, 2026, the day after memorial day, Brody Kalwinski will sign his National Letter of Intent(NLI) with the Franklin College Grizzlies, a NCAA Division III program, located 20 miles south of downtown Indianapolis, in Franklin, Indiana.
“ I am nervous, but I am also excited to be challenged again, and to work my way up. I’m rebirthing all over again, that’s how it feels.” Kalwinski said with excitement.
Congratulations to one of RDP’s greatest athletes of all time.
