The QuestBridge National College Match is a program that allows high-achieving, low-income students to gain guaranteed admission with a four-year full-ride scholarship to one of America’s top colleges. The scholarship covers all necessary expenses, including but not limited to tuition, room and board, books, and a travel stipend.
Each year, over 25,000 students apply to the program. Of those applicants, 7,026 are selected as finalists, and 2,550 students ultimately receive the scholarship.
Jack explains his perspective on receiving the scholarship: “By getting this scholarship, I have removed the two largest stressors in the college admission process: deciding where to go and finding payment for the schooling. Had I not received the scholarship or any financial aid, the cost of attendance for Northwestern would be about $95,000 a year. I now have the freedom to take my classes and research without the threat of lifetime debt hanging over me. I will be majoring in biology with a concentration in ecology, evolution, and conservation, with my ultimate goal being to complete a PhD in zoology in grad school. I now have a great platform to both learn the necessary skills to succeed in my field and complete professional research at an institution that values it deeply.”
This is the latest in a series of successes for Jack. He is a strong student academically and has made LHS a better place through his various extra-curricular activities. We are all proud of Jack and cannot wait to see what he does next.
