For most folks, the holidays are filled with smiles, laughs, family, and gifts. Some people are not as fortunate, though. Sometimes we need to spread a little kindness, and that’s what the Leadership Club did this past Monday. L-Club is a leadership group of athletes at Lowell High School. They went shopping for six kids who might not be as fortunate this holiday season, ensuring that everyone can enjoy this season.
They traveled together on the bus up north to Target, arriving around 7 PM, where they shopped for over an hour. They found items and toys that the kids asked for and loaded the carts up, turning a shopping trip into a joyful experience.
L-Club did this as part of their annual Angel Tree shopping. This event has the goal of providing gifts, smiles, and joy to kids and families who might need help this year. This gives students in the club the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community. The members of the L-Club take pride in giving back to others and spreading positivity.
This event is possible with the money raised from other L-Club events, such as Track or Treat. It is also possible due to the generosity of the Lowell Athletic Department and their support in making this happen. As we part ways this holiday season, let us be reminded that it is okay to slow down and spread positivity to others. It reminds us what this time is really about. Sharing our blessings is better than any physical gift.
