The annual Special Olympics game has been hosted in Lowell for 11 years in a row. Assistant Athletic Director Keith Kilmer started this tradition because he believes they all deserve the same opportunities as other kids.
The game had an amazing turnout. Many people showed up to support everyone. Fans cheered for both teams and had a great time. Nobody was left out, either on the court or in the stands.
The kids all had the best night ever. We got some inside insight into how the players were able to pull off the win after losing to Lake Central earlier this year. Player Zack Choate said that he worked really hard. “I love playing with all my friends and teammates. The crowd was definitely my favorite part of the night,” said Zack. He had an amazing night, thanks to the community creating such an awesome atmosphere.
Other teammates also shared their favorite moments. Isaac Hamstra loved swishing three-pointers. Brody Johnston enjoyed warming up and making baskets. Dominic Dudek loves stealing the ball and running up and down the court. Addison Bane and Maddie Lindemuler enjoy being together with all their friends and the fans in the stands.
This night is very important to the community. It is a time for everyone to come together and show love and support. It brings people together and ensures that everyone feels included. No one is left out. The players appreciate the support and enjoy winning even more. Thanks to everyone who came out, the night was a success and made everyone’s day just a little bit better.
