On Saturday, November 1st, the Lowell cheerleading program traveled to Greenfield Central High School to compete in the HCCA finals. The cheerleaders had an amazing day, with high energy and amazing vibes being the highlights of the day.
Senior Chloe Trussler-Clements says she had a mix of emotions, from mostly being tired, to being excited and nervous to perform. “Before the performance, that’s when I had started to feel nervous because this routine was something to have fun in, but I didn’t want to mess up or feel like the team’s hard-work didn’t pay off.” She felt a sense of accomplishment as they exited the mat, after completing a 2 minute powerful routine. As we gear up for the ICC Finals, she is “definitely very stressed out but excited at the same time because for those 2 minutes and 30 seconds nothing in my life matters except for everything on that mat. I know once we get there, the feelings will set in that this is real. But overall, I think it will be a good day if I make it a good day with a positive attitude, as well as having the practices leading up to this weekend be a positive atmosphere.”
Senior Anahalise Partain says she is very excited and is ready to go for the day. “I felt very good, and I knew that we had just performed the best routine all season.” Ana says she’s “feeling very confident, and I know that whatever happens, I’m still so proud of my teammates. I really want to place in the Top 4 so we can go to Nationals!” She hopes we can do the best we can at the ICC Finals.
Varsity Head Coach, Jennifer Del Real says that her emotions were all over the place. From feeling relaxed and calm to feeling a wave of excitement and nerves as soon as the bus pulled into the parking lot. When we hit the mat, she got the most excitement. “During the performance I was so excited seeing the team hit areas that were worked on and had changed. It was one of our better performances and seeing their excitement coming off the mat made my heart sing.” Coach Del Real is feeling pumped and ready to go for ICC finals. She is feeling confident for her team. “As a coach, to me a successful routine will be one that they perform from beginning to end, hitting their skills, and keeping their energy up through the entire thing.”
We are ready to see how our Lady Red Devil Cheerleading team will do at the ICC Finals. We wish all of our cheerleaders good luck!
