Senior year is a year to remember. From the first days of a high school career to the last. These days are filled with memorable moments in people’s lives. Last Wednesday, the girls’ wrestling team celebrated their seniors: Alexia Utley, Jacquline Mallory, Savannah Wilson, and Diana Robles with pride, emotion, and reflection. This was a time when coaches, teammates, and family came together to honor the seniors who have dedicated years to this sport, all the hard work they have put in, and all the tough practices they pushed themselves through.
This night not only celebrated the athletes’ accomplishments on the mat but also their growth and leadership. Senior captains Jacquline Mallory and Alexia Utley are prime examples of what a leader is. They show true dedication to the sport they love and set strong examples for both themselves and younger athletes. Senior Night is about the bonds made throughout the years, the lessons learned, and the legacy each senior leaves behind.
The girls’ wrestling team went up against the Munster Mustangs but came up short in a hard-fought dual. Wrestlers Alexia Utley, Jacquline Mallory, and Emma Alvarez won their matches, all by pin in the first period. The team is ready to see what the rest of the season has to offer.
