The End of a Great Season: Girls Basketball

The Girls Varsity Basketball team opened their Sectional play this year with an excellent win over the Illiana Christian Vikings on Tuesday, February 2nd. The Devils tough defensive and aggressive offensive led the team to a win of 57-28. Top scorers were Brooke Dawson with 23 points and Gatlin Hanrath with 11. This dominant win allowed the team to advance to the Semi-Finals against the Kankakee Valley Kougars.

The girls faced the Kankakee Valley Kougars on Friday, February 6th. The game was neck-and-neck the entire time, but unfortunately ended in a 43-40 loss. The Devils Defense did a fantastic job of holding the score close for the entirety of the game. Score leaders included Brooke Dawson with 14 points and Gatlin Hanrath with 12. Dawson was the top scorer for the season, earning a whopping 318 points!

The team went 16-8 overall, a great, hard-fought season for the Devils. Along the way, Coach Chavez even secured her 100th win as a coach! We cannot wait to see what the team does again next year! Way to go Devils!
