The boys track team has been crowned outright conference champions. This achievement highlights the hard work and dedication of both the athletes and coaches. It takes a well-rounded track team to dominate a conference, and the Lowell Red Devils had just that this year. A strong distance group, complemented by a solid sprinting and field crew, allowed the Devils to achieve this feat.
The road to victory began with the conference matchups. Teams participated in dual meets throughout the season, where earning higher placements in events added points to the team’s overall score. Whichever team tallied the most points by the end of the meet was declared the winner. Lowell’s closest competition came against Hanover Central. The Devils secured the victory in the final race, the 4×400 relay, earning five points to pull ahead 67–65.
This marks the Devils’ first track conference championship since 2018, ending an almost decade-long journey back to the top. It has been a successful year overall for the Devils, as they also claimed a conference championship in cross country.
The Devils now look ahead to their postseason run. They will travel to Crown Point this Thursday to compete in the IHSAA Sectionals. They have strong opportunities in several events to advance to the regional round.
